My mother’s home town used to be considered very backward and rural, but in the past 20 years, it’s become very popular due to its proximity to Canton/ Guangzhou (about 45 minutes by car, 30 minutes by train) and Hong Kong (about two to three hours by coach or high-speed ferry), it’s become very popular to wealthier people.
